Mental Wellness Observances in November

November 2025 has several mental health-related observances, including the month-long “Movember” campaign focusing on men’s health, National Stress Awareness Day on the first Wednesday, World Kindness Day on November 13th, and International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

The month is dedicated to men’s health, which includes mental health and suicide prevention. Movember is an annual event in November where participants grow mustaches to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, including mental health, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. Participants can also run or walk 60 miles for the 60 men lost to suicide each hour or start their own physical or “Mo Your Own Way” challenge to raise awareness and money to fund causes. The campaign aims to get men to talk about their health and take action, addressing the fact that men are dying too young from preventable causes.

The first Wednesday of November focuses on stress and its impact on mental health.
National Stress Awareness Day is observed on the first Wednesday of November. It was founded in 1998 by the International Stress Management Association (ISMA) to encourage people to recognize the effects of stress on their mental and physical health and to find ways to manage it.

November 13th promotes acts of kindness to improve mental well-being. The purpose of World Kindness Day is to highlight good deeds, promote kindness, and raise awareness of its positive impact on individuals and communities. It encourages people to perform simple acts of kindness, like helping a neighbor or volunteering, to create a ripple effect of goodwill and build a more compassionate world. The day also serves as a reminder to practice kindness toward ourselves and others.

International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is a chance to support and honor those affected by suicide. In 2025, this falls on Saturday, November 22nd. International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day (also known as “Survivor Day”) is observed annually on the Saturday before American Thanksgiving. This day is an opportunity for those who have lost a loved one to suicide to come together, share their experiences, find support, and foster healing through shared understanding. The day was designated by the U.S. Congress in 1999 and is organized by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), among other organizations, with events held globally.

Veterans Day is an annual U.S. federal holiday on November 11th that honors all those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The date was chosen to commemorate the armistice that ended World War I at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. Initially called Armistice Day, it was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to honor veterans of all wars.

Giving Tuesday, often stylized as #GivingTuesday for the purposes of hashtag activism, is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It is touted as a “global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.”
