Rochester Holistic Psychiatry feels deeply for our patients and friends who have been laid off or lost their jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic.  If you are getting less work, are unemployed, or are just looking for new ways to branch out and make money, we’d like to offer some tips that will hopefully lift your spirits and fill your wallet.

Leverage LinkedIn

Who are you already connected to?  Who are they connected to that you’d like to know?  Always include a friendly note when reaching out to someone and follow pages that post information that is useful or interesting to you.  Don’t forget to polish up your resume!

Budget

Now is a perfect time to learn how to manage your finances better.  Financial experts are hosting all kinds of video calls and virtual workshops, many for free, aimed at helping people learn how to budget.  These can be good for networking too.

Use Social Media

We already posted about how to stay connected during the quarantine.  Facebook and other social media platforms are a goldmine, not only for finding work on the job boards, but for engaging in private commerce with friends and strangers.  You can sell your stuff to college students, buy cheap stuff from students, engage on bartering or “buy nothing” boards, community pages, and more.

Do Good from Afar

You can still do good from a distance, and you may not even have to spend money.  If you can, donate to community food banks.  Many children from low-income households aren’t getting school lunches and will need help from elsewhere.  Take part in efforts to assist healthcare and frontline workers by helping deliver food and supplies.  If you have healthy veins, the Red Cross needs blood.  Or, run errands for the sick and elderly.

Call Us

Rochester Holistic Psychiatry is available via telemedicine for your mental health.  Now is when we need to connect more than ever, so don’t hesitate to call us.  Always remember that you are our first priority.
